Maria Luisa Amelia Gomez de Asis - Sweet. Yes, that's my full name. Please call me, Marissa, as it is my nickname and what friends and family call me. I was born in the Philippines, immigrated to Canada in 1994 where I met Glenn Sweet, my loving husband, in 1997, and got married in September 2000. With a B.A. in Economics, I worked in various corporate roles, first as an Account Executive for a resort hotel in the Philippines and later with an international flavours and fragrance company for seven years. I have always enjoyed meeting people and developing relationships. Upon immigrating to Canada, I worked in various corporations among the oldest North American brewery and with a multinational technological solutions consulting firm. My role was as their Training Coordinator/Facilitator for the Education Department. After 15 years in the corporate world, fate has given me the opportunity to pursue my passion which is Feng Shui and my love for painting. My introduction to Feng Shui was in 1994, but it was only after discovering in my opinion the finest teacher in the world, Master Joseph Yu in 1999, that made me realize that Feng Shui wasn’t only about placement of things around the home, but rather how and why people are affected by their immediate surroundings. After completing Master Joseph Yu’s advance Feng Shui courses, I continue to get certified in various higher studies in Xuan Kong (Time and Space) Feng Shui, which includes, the Flying Star methodology. The Flying star methodology which is the most sophisticated in Classical Feng Shui, studies four basic charts and several special charts to provide additional analysis to each home and space. (e.g. Adding to 10, Castle Gate, Replacement Stars, Parents Sequence, Connected Pearls, Fan Fu Yin charts). This intensive training brought forth a deeper understanding of Feng Shui (categorized as an ancient metaphysical art-form) and its impact on the quality of our lives. It is with this knowledge that I provide professional assistance to clients, so they can approach their environment with the same respect it deserves. I started the Art of Placement and Design (TAOPAD) in 2003 with the mission to increase awareness of true teachings of Traditional and Classical Chinese Feng Shui, to be able to provide services to the public on how to promote good chi (Qi) in their homes and businesses, and to prevent misconceptions about this treasured art.
Feng Shui Research Center (FSRC)Marissa Sweet is a certified practitioner of the Feng Shui Research Center (FSRC) based in Richmond Hill, Ontario (Canada), founded in 1998 by Master Joseph Yu. This center is composed of an international group of Traditional Chinese Feng Shui experts. The goal of FSRC is the research and practice of the most authentic forms of the discipline, as well as the collecting of ongoing data on its relevance and limits. As the study of Feng Shui is a lifetime commitment, regular daily communication and collaboration, facilitated by the internet, are important to the practitioners of FSRC. Important projects can call for the combined efforts and competences of an international team or even for the direct participation of Master Yu. Sc., (Founder of the FSRC)Master Joseph Yu, B. Sc. founded the Feng Shui Research Centre which is based in Toronto, Canada. This centre was conceived to provide education to people on Chinese Astrology and Feng Shui. It's mission is to one day bring proper recognition to this valuable Chinese culture and be recognized by the scientific world. A math and physics graduate from the University of Hong Kong, Master Joseph, frequented libraries to find fault with Astrology and Feng Shui from ancient books, but as he went deeper into his research he found solid proof to Feng Shui's authenticity and rich legacy. During his university days he was lucky to have an old Feng Shui Master as a neighbour. This old master was very kind to disclose a lot of secrets of Feng Shui to him even though he was not one of his students. Before the old Master passed away, he told one of his disciples, "This young man, though not officially under my care, has learned more than most of you because he has a logical mind and dares to argue with me on various issues." When Master Yu moved to Canada in 1986 he
began teaching and practicing Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology on a full-time
basis. I am privileged to be able to learn from this
distinguished and most respected Grand Master of authentic Feng Shui.
