The Robert McLaughlin Gallery: Chair'ity AuctionLast November 15, 2008, The Robert McLaughlin Gallery Volunteers launched their Chair-ity Auction for the benefit of The Robert McLaughlin Gallery. The Theme : "Saving the Environment" launched in June 2008, brought forth an array of incredible art from local artists in the Durham Region. Below is the chair I painted for the auction! I wanted to feature the honey bee and their importance, by providing us with vegetables and fruits resulting from pollination. In a recent documentary on bees, scientists are finding that most of the wild bees are not coming back to their hive to deposit the honey they collected, and those that make it back are slowly dying. They are assuming that bees are getting poisoned by chemicals used in the farmlands and environs, and this causes their disorientation which results in their losing their way back to their hives and eventually to their demise.
