Feedback on Art WorkFeedback on Cover of Transition's Magazine - Vol.2, June 2010 IssueCongratulations, Marissa! Wonderful to see your artwork getting the
accolades it deserves. You're a great source of inspiration in that you
are so committed to the pursuit of your painting and creativity.
"Lets Jam" has such a vibrant feeling to it. I love the way the
composition makes the eye dance around the canvas. Interesting that you
found inspiration in music as the theme for this piece. Transitions exist
in music just as they do in our day-to-day lives. One slight half-tone
change can completely alter the feeling and/or the mood. Similarly, moving
things around a space or adding colour can alter the emphasis and transform the
way it makes you feel. There are opportunities every day to better
ourselves, connect more with our community by making one small shift in thought
and/or actions.
Feedback on Oshawa Art Juried Show ( from Claudia McCabe, SCA, Juror for 2005 show)Hi Marissa! Feedback on Sunflower and Orchid PaintingHi Marissa, Just wanted to let you know I spoke to Luisa about your artwork. She said they still haven't found the right place to hang the orchid but they put the bigger picture over their dining room table and "it just pops outta the wall - it's great" and "we just love the art!!". Thought you'd be happy to hear this. Talk to you soon. Feedback on Acoustic Nights by the RiverThis painting is amazing… I really love how your work has evolved. The tension of the lines reinforced the emotional tension of the subject matter very well. They way I interpreted it, you showed the subject – what we would call “slums” – as a rich landscape of textures and planes; a tapestry of people whose world is enriched by their circumstance and their common bond. Only the egos of (more affluent) outsiders dare to cast a pitying gaze on such a culture, one likely more rich than their own. Instead of just “having hope”, it seems that it is hope itself which informs the culture and propels it forward, (“life is what you make it, not where you live”). (wow…how’s that for interpolation!?) -c |
